Like all businesses, there are road blocks you will hit in the affiliate marketing business.  Making some of  these simple mistakes will cost you time and money everyday. That is why it is better to avoid them than be sorry in the end.

First Mistake: Choosing the wrong affiliate.

I know you want to start making money as fast as possible. In your rush to be part of one, you tend to choose a “hot” product.  By doing this, you are promoting a product without considering if the product is of interest to you. This is not a very smart move.

Try to choose a product you are truly interested in. In order for you to be successful, you should take some time to plan and figure out your actions.

So I changed my article using my own words, checked it again and found 0 results. Original, fresh content !!!

There are ways to find these articles. When I started out, I signed up for everything I could to understand about marketing. I was always given a bonus for signing up. If you ever want people to sign up with your optin list, ALWAYS give away something. And make it good. Nothing cheap.

So many of my bonuses were PLR articles that I could turn around and use myself as a bonus or for profit. I realized that some of these articles have already been circulated and rehashed and really had no new substance however. You have to have new, fresh content for google and others to put you higher in the ranks. If you duplicate, you will be shut down.

You have to take these articles and rewrite them at least 50% or it will show up as duplicate copy. This can take a while if you are just getting started.

The bigger goal here is to build your list. Without a list to promote your products, you are dead in the water. The problem is most marketers don’t know how to effectively build and manage multiple lists!

If you are just starting out, the best way for you to go is find affiliate programs that you can promote.  You just promote, they take care of everything else.  They are responsible for getting the product to your customer, dealing with customer service, receiving payments.  That’s it, then you just cash in  your commissions.

So now you are saying to yourself, okay how do I promote.  If you are just starting out, you don’t have a list to email your promotions to.  And I can tell you it is all about marketing your products.  The vendors will take care of the rest for you and close the sale.  Marketing, marketing, marketing.

There are so many courses and programs out there it is mind boggling.  Which ones do you choose to teach you, which ones are just bogus?

So there began my process.  I learned the first thing I needed to do was find a niche.  Didn’t know what that meant either.  It is finding something you have great interest in or a passion for like golfing, fishing, flower gardening, vegetable gardening, pet grooming, birds, weight loss, whatever you have an interest in.  From there you start your research.  Google what you may want to do and research how big the market is, how they are promoting the niche.    As a newbie, my best advise is to pick a niche you really love.  If you don’t, you will not have the will or motivation to sell.

From there I suggest you start with affiliate programs.  These are programs that you can join, majority for free to sell their products for them on the internet and you receive a commission for that sale.  Commissions usually range from 40% to 70% of that sale.  You can find these affiliate programs with Clickbank.com, Paydot.com just to mention a few.   I found the most popular was Clickbank which offers a wide variety of niches and companies wanting you to sell for them.

These affilate programs offer you every tool you need to sell their products.  They give you a sales page, articles, banners, advertisments for Adwords on Google, emails to send to your lists and usually free products to give to your customers to help sell their products. I am finding the most profitable are vendors selling memberships which you will receive a residual each month for their paid membership.

There are many free resources to promote your products.  You can write articles with GoArticles.com and Ezinearticles.com to mention a few.  You can also create your own blog. You can create your free blog from Blogger.com, Wordpress.com or any other blogging service.  However, try to host your blog on your own domain.

If you have a domain with hosting, you can install Wordpress blog on it. This is better than a free blog from Blogger.com.  You can link any product you are selling easier if you have your own website. It would be more profitable for you to look into getting a website.  You can go to GoDaddy.com or Hostgator.com to mention a few. Although they are both very good, I find Hostgator more newbie friendly.

You will also need to sign up for a Paypal.com account and a Clickbank.com account which is where you will receive payment for your commissions.  Each company pays in usually one or the other.

There are so many questions I know, but if you just sit back, relax and think of what niche you may like, the rest will start coming to you.  So pick your niche and start selling…
